...for another contest!

Well, it's time!! April's contest has arrived!! I am so incredibly excited about this month's contest, and I'm sure you will be also.

If you remember back in February, I posted about the beautiful plaque that I bought for my incredible husband, Troy, for Valentine's Day from Fruitful Vine Creations. Well, are you holding on to your hats?? Tonya, the wonderful gal behind the artwork has generously donated a $25.00 gift certificate towards Wall Lettering at her store. How fantastic is that?!?!? (Thank you, Tonya!!! You're the tops!)

So, you know what the prize is...how do you have a chance to win??

Remember I told you to be thinking about 'writing them on your door posts'?? Well, it's time for you to share one of your favorite Bible verses, and tell how it has encouraged you in your walk. I hear you, I hear you...Just ONE, Camille?!?!?

Yes, just one verse...however, you have an opportunity for two, yes two, more entries. For your second (optional) entry all you have to do is mention the Fruitful Vine Creation Gift Certificate give-away on your blog and link back to this page. For your third entry, all you have to do is link to Tonya's site on your blog. Please add a link in the comments telling me where you posted. We will do a random drawing of all entries on May 1st, at which time we will announce the winner.

The contest will be open until April 30, 2008.

What an exciting contest, Camille! I posted about it on my blog, and I even put up pictures--because we already have Tonya's creations on our walls!! We love them and recommend them wholeheartedly. I guess you don't need to enter us in the contest; leave that for someone who has yet to experience this great product. But come see my pictures. They are not great pictures, but the wall words are certainly great products!

This verse has been brought to my mind by the Lord MANY times in my Christian life. How often do I stress and worry over things? All the time!! Why should I bother, when NOTHING is too hard for God?

Hi Camille, Oh I love contests so much! One of my favourites is:
1 Peter 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

Of course, the whole chapter is good! This is the verse that started to teach me about submission, and helped me to duck so the Lord could convert my DH after my own conversion. It is beautiful because it's true, and it works!

Here's the answer to Camille's question of why I want 1 Cor: 10:31 on our wall.

We are supposed to glorify God in all we do. Our lives are to be pleasing to Him - in everything. This verse helps us keep this in mind.

He hath shewed thee Oh man, what is good, and what hath the Lord required of thee, but to do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with thy God. Micah 6:8

I love this verse because it helps me keep the main thing the main thing. To be humble, to love mercy...These are things my Lord calls good, and they are things my flesh struggles against. So I often call this verse to mind.

It's hard to choose a favorite verse, but I have always loved Isaiah 41:10, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

Ephesians 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

When I wonder why, or feel burdened by life, or think things aren't going so great, when I need encouragement or when I want one more reason to rejoice-this verse is one that I bring to mind. It's our purpose for life...our reason for living...our hope for the everyday...our direction...our gift...our goal :) I love that verse!

I am partial to Psalm 34 but love verses 8-10. I was part of a freshman choir during freshman orientation at college in 1982 and a conservatory student had put the words of this Psalm to music for us to perform. They have been with me ever since and have been a source of encouragement whenever I've gone through a troubling time in my life.

My life verse:

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope."

In difficult times, this verse has brought me peace. I lost a dear friend very young, another friend to suicide, my dog, and both my mother and my father-in-law were near death in the hospital at Christmas time. All this happened within three months time. God is faithful. He has shown His glory even during this dark time and made it even clearer to me the truth in this verse: I HAVE A PLAN.

What a great contest idea!I enjoyed reading the favorites of everyone. I have several favorite verses, but the following is the most meaningful for our family:

Let the Beauty of the Lord our God be upon us. Psalm 90:17

As I endured the long wait in our adoption, I wanted the Lord to find our child and to hurry up the process. One day, He softly spoke to my heart and said, "Do you want to miss the Beauty of the journey?" Later, He lead me to this verse. I realize that all is in His Timing. I also came to see the Beauty of our Lord...not with my eyes, but with the heart!

On my computer I have a a piece of paper with my favorite verse "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today." Matthew 6:34
This helps keep me focused on the fact that work worries aren't worth worrying about and that God will take care of all my worries so I should stop worrying about them myself!

This verse is on my email auto signature. It reminds me that through the hard times (I was widowed), God is steering the ship and there is a reason and a plan.

Mine would be Galatians 6:9...Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary

I am a mom of 8 and have been home schooing for 21 years. In different seasons I have grown weary...of home schooling, of being consistent, of being different, etc! This verse reminds me not to lose heart. I have been blessed and have done some reaping as I watch my older 3 walk with the Lord BUT I can't stop now for there are 5 more to be faithful with!

I also love the verse Jeremiah 29:11! "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end." It is a comfort to know the Lord is thinking about me and has my best interests at heart.

One of my favorite Bible Verses is: "Charm is decetive, and beauty is fleeting;but a women who fears the Lord shall be praised." Proverbs 31:30
This verse to help keep me grounded. It helps me each and everyday to stay on track not to be too concerned with my outter beauty but, the beauty of the Lord!

There have been times where the thoughts in my mind kept me from sleeping. There have also been times where I didn't feel safe. This verse is a wonderful reminder that you can lie down and sleep in peace because we are safe in the hands of God.

My favorite scripture is Proverbs 4:23
"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life."

This scripture has helped me through many ups and downs and tough times in relationships. The Lord created in me a clean heart, His word is written upon my heart, out of my heart my mouth speaks, and where my treasure is there is my heart.

My husband and I pastor a church in Louisiana, as a family we fully believe that our home is to be open for the ministry of our church.

I would love to post 2 Cor. 3:17 on the wall of my dining and living room. It seems as though that is a message that todays people need to hear.

It is -
For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

We continually pray that our house would be a home of peace and freedom and this is our verse for those who enter our home. Freedom to live fully for Christ! To be made holy as He is holy and fully to become disciples of Christ! That is our prayer for ourselves, for our daughter. It is a great journey we are on, one we grow in every day!

Thank you for this giveaway in the fact that it really helped me to sit down and realize that this verse I often speak to people has become such a mantra of my own heart and home!

"God will make a way where there seems to be no way..."

This is a verse that follows me all the days of my life. So many times I have felt stuck or felt like I was hitting rock bottom, and God has come through for me every single time. It has been everything from finding my high school sweetheart after 20 years, the birth of my son, getting laid off from my job, and our daughter born with Down's syndrome turning out to be the light of our families life.

Psalms 46:10 "Be Still and Know That I am God!" With age;hopefully, comes wisdom. Other than "Thy Will Be Done", Be Still is my mantra for life. I feel that only in silence can I truly recognize God and talk with him. Thanks,Cindi

I had to do some searching for the verse submitted by Julie Dinkins-Borkowski. While I could not find
"God will make a way where there seems to be no way...", I did find that often this is a shortened version of 1 Corinthians 10:13 which says, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

Julie, is this the verse you had in mind? If not, please let me know!!

I am having such a wonderful time reading all of the verses submitted - and my wish list at Fruitful Vine Creations is growing!! All of them are wonderful so far! I especially liked the one from Psalm 4:8 - that is perfect for the bedroom wall!

Thanks for the contest! I would love to put "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Ever since our kids could talk they've been saying that verse every night before bed. (Along with "I'm a winner!" and "I'm responsible!") It's also helped me through many, many days and given me faith.

Hi,
I've had a plaque above my front door for 25 years. As my family went "out and about" in our daily lives, it served as a gentle reminder to be good examples who are steady in faith. It's from Joshua: "Choose ye this day whom you will serve, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." My son knew it by heart at 3 years old and has loved it every since. He's 28 now, just bought a home and is getting married on 4-20-08. I would love to give him a similar plaque to hang over his front door. He and Amy have both asked if I remember where I got mine..(25 years ago..ha..ha), so I know they would treasure it. THANK YOU for the chance to win. As a homeschool mom of 10 children, I would have to say Isaiah 54:13 is one of my favorite verses.
"And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children."
This verse speaks to me in the midst of my inabilites, my shortcomings and says that God is the One doing the teaching through me. The Lord is the One teaching them, and not me. That gives me such comfort. Thank you for making me think about this.

I hope you will keep the comments up even after the contest ends. There are several verses listed that I could envision putting on my walls!

Can I choose a passage instead of a verse?? Or does that not "count"?

My favorite verses are Philippians 2:5-8, "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking on the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death--even death on a cross!"

I love this passage, because it reminds and challenges me that if Jesus was content to humble himself and serve, how much more should I be content to serve.

If I win, I would use the gift certificate toward putting "Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine, within your house, your children like olive plants around your table" in our kitchen.

Camille -- Thanks for the reminder through JT400! I need to add your blog to my feed so I don't forget about these things :-)

I would have to choose Psalm 100:3 as a favorite right now. It says "Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of his pasture."

As I said on my blog the reason for this being a favorite right now is that my husband and I have become solely dependent on God. We trust His word and His truth above all else. Every good and perfect thing we have comes from God and nothing and no one can take that away. Satan will try daily to make us doubt the Lord God but we shun him and the lies that he sows. We will continuously raise up the name of Our Father and King with a joyful noise and thanksgiving in our hearts!!

For we know that all things work together for the good of those who love Him, for those who have been called according to His service... For what shall we then say to these things? if God is for us, who can be against us?

Through the many trials & joys of my life, when I throw up my hands and wonder what is going on?! I can look back to this verse and know that the sovereign God has it all in His control!

I have 2 favorite verses but the verse I choose for tonight is:
I Thes 4:11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

I really like that it says to be quiet, something my dh often tells me, to mind your own bussiness a good idea and it goes so well with be quiet, work with your own hands
I love to do crafts and such. The last part is like don't you read this in the Bible? :)

One of my favorites is Philippians 4:13. "I can do all things thru Him who strengthens me" I remember from the time I was in third grade and moved to a new school how nervous I was in my math class with my first male teacher. My mom told me to repeat to myself as I walked into that classroom that I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me. It is something that has stuck with me for 30 years now.

Good Evening,

One of our favorite verses is Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

This came across in homeschooling when studying memory verses from our "Swordfighting" book. It just struck me as a verse to use every day in this "busy season" of my life. I need the joy and peace that is promised when the schedule seems to full or I feel like I'm falling behind. I've really come to really on this one.

Psalm 23:4 ~ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shawdow of death, I will fear no evil; For you art with me; Your rod and Your staff, the comfort me.

This verse has encouraged me over the past year in so many ways. It gave me hope when I almost lost my barrel racing horse in a serious leg accident. It gave me a home when my dad was at the risk of having tyroid cancer. When the Lord called to himself a dear friend, it gave me peace. It has given me faith when I know the Lord is ALWAYS there. Even when I walk in the valley of death, He is there to hold me when I falter. Praise the Lord for his mercy is indeed great!

Hi! I love the verses on the walls. We redid our kitchen last year, and I got Joshua 24:15 to put over the fireplace mantel in the kitchen. It is a great reminder to me, my husband, and our five children of what our utmost priority is, in everything that we do, to serve the Lord.
